Quick answer

In 2026, 9mm PET acoustic felt (2440 × 1220mm, about 1850gsm) from Chinese manufacturers typically sells for about USD 14–28 per sheet, or roughly USD 4.7–9.4 per square meter, EXW, in standard colors. 12mm panels (about 2400gsm) are typically USD 22–44 per sheet, and 24mm panels (about 3600gsm) USD 44–66 per sheet. Actual prices depend on GSM, quality, color, order quantity and trade terms.

PET acoustic felt prices in China

Most Chinese PET acoustic felt manufacturers offer three common thicknesses: 9mm, 12mm and 24mm. They are widely used for acoustic wall panels, offices, hospitality projects and further fabrication. The most common sheet size is 2440 × 1220mm (8 × 4 ft), which is about 2.98 m² per sheet.

When comparing prices, remember that thickness alone does not define a PET acoustic panel. Two suppliers may both quote a 9mm panel, but one may offer 1600gsm while the other supplies 1850gsm. The higher-GSM panel uses more material per square meter, so it costs more to produce. Always compare thickness + GSM + sheet size, not just the price per sheet.

Why do PET acoustic felt prices vary between Chinese manufacturers?

Two panels with the same thickness, similar GSM and the same sheet size can still be priced differently. These are the main reasons.

1. GSM and material usage

GSM is the weight of material per square meter and is the easiest specification to compare. A 9mm / 1600gsm panel uses less material than a 9mm / 1850gsm panel, so it is usually cheaper. The lower GSM can also affect rigidity and how well the panel holds its shape after cutting or grooving.

2. Fire-retardant performance

Fire-retardant PET acoustic felt usually costs more than standard, non-fire-retardant felt, because of the extra cost of fire-retardant materials and fire testing. If your project needs a fire rating such as ASTM E84 Class A or EN 13501-1 B-s1,d0, make sure the quotation is for the fire-retardant version and ask the supplier for the test report. A noticeably cheaper quote may be for non-fire-retardant felt. See our own fire test reports.

3. Surface quality and production consistency

This is hard to judge from a quotation. Panels with similar specifications on paper can look quite different. Depending on the process and quality control, lower-priced panels may show:

  • uneven fiber distribution

  • small surface marks or spots

  • inconsistent surface texture

  • thickness variation

  • irregular edges

  • color variation between panels or batches

Before ordering, check real samples from the supplier.

4. Lead time and stock availability

A very low price looks attractive at the quotation stage, but delivery matters too. For project-based businesses, a delayed shipment can cost far more than the few dollars saved per panel. Suppliers that keep standard colors and specifications in stock can usually support small orders, urgent projects and repeat orders more easily.

5. Quality control and tolerances

Manufacturers apply different acceptance standards for thickness, dimensions, GSM, surface finish and color. Wider tolerances mean fewer rejected panels and lower production cost. Tighter tolerances need more precise production control and stricter inspection, which costs more. A lower price does not always mean wider tolerances. But if two quotes look the same on paper and the prices differ noticeably, ask: What are your tolerances for thickness, dimensions and GSM? This matters most for CNC cutting, V-grooving, modular wall systems and repeat production.

6. Brand premium

Well-known manufacturers may charge a brand premium that reflects their reputation, marketing and customer base. A higher price does not automatically mean better quality, and a lower price does not automatically mean worse quality. Compare the actual specifications, certifications and production capability behind each quote.

7. Service and support

Buyers also rely on the supplier for samples, color matching, quick replies, production updates, documents and logistics. Some suppliers invest more in this support, and it can show in the price. Evaluate service on its own, not from the price alone.

How to compare quotations

When you put quotes side by side, check:

  1. Thickness, GSM and sheet size

  2. Fire-retardant or non-fire-retardant felt

  3. Trade term (EXW, FOB or CIF)

  4. Standard or custom color

  5. Tolerances for thickness, dimensions and GSM

  6. Real samples, not only photos

  7. Stock availability and lead time
